Learning step by step
General study method. The phrases quoted are verified in his commentary on Exodus 25:8; the method itself is study advice, not his words.
1. Read the verse and Rashi
Start with the verse itself and Rashi's explanation so you know the plain meaning.
Exodus 25:8 with Rashi ↗2. Find his question
He often opens with צָרִיךְ לָדַעַת — “one needs to understand”. Write the question down in your own words.
Or HaChaim on Exodus 25:8 ↗3. Find his answer
Look for וְנִרְאֶה — “it appears” — where he gives his own explanation.
4. Connect it to the words
Notice which exact word of the verse each answer explains (אָמְרוֹ — “its saying”).
5. Ask and review
Ask the study helper about anything unclear, then review the next day and teach it to someone.
Next: try the verse finder or the study helper.
